In Tingri (Shegar), we live at Qomulangma Resort which is basic but also the local best one there. At Everest Base Camp, we will live in the yak hair tent run by local people living there, the warm bedclothes provided by the tent owners are sufficient. Will your tour guide be with us all day?
No, our tour guide will be guiding you when you visiting a certain attraction, like a palace or monastery. You are on your own after visiting a certain attraction. That is to say, you have your own free time to go bar, shopping or hanging out. Please make sure you are escorted by our guide when visiting an attraction; if you are caught visiting without a guide, both you and our company will be punished.
Why don’t you include the entrance fees? How much is the entrance fees for each attractions and in total?
Tibetan culture and civilization is characterized by monasteries, there are some significant monasteries in our itinerary too; but many times, our customers told us they do not want to visit this many monastery as most of them look the same, so we decide to not to include entrance fee but let our customer pay by themselves based on their interests. You can skip some attractions too if you have no interest on all of them. The entrance fee of attractions in our itinerary is Potala Palace = RMB 200, Johkang Temple = RMB 85, Drepung Monastery = RMB 50, Sera Monastery = RMB 50, Yamdrok Lake = RMB 40, Pelcho Monastery = RMB 40, Kumbum Stupa = RMB 10, Tashilumpo Monastery = RMB 85, Syaka Monastery = RMB 45, Mt. Everest = RMB 180, it amounts up to RMB 685, equals to USD 109 (1 USD = 6.3 RMB)
How much does the food in Tibet cost?
Our tour includes breakfast for all days in Tibet. A normal lunch or dinner in Lhasa costs the same price that costs in Beijing or Shanghai. Noodles costs about RMB 15 per bowl; fried vegetable with meat and rice cost about RMB 25 per dish, so it approximately costs you RMB 70 per person per day on both lunch and dinner at normal standard. The vegetarian food is also available in Tibet, and price is lower than a dish with meat.
How much is the tip to our guide and driver? Is there a standard?
Tour guide work is a tough job on the roof of the world, and to tip the local guide and driver is a common practice in Tibet tourism; however, there is no standard for the tip amount, it quite depends on guide and driver’s service quality. Generally, if the group size is over 5 pax, we suggest our customers to tip the guide USD 5 per person per day while tip the driver USD 3 per person per day; if the group size is smaller than 5 pax, we suggest to tip the guide USD 8 per person per day while tip driver USD 4.
